How to install IPX/SPX protocol in Vista to handle online game connection problem?
|
Believe some game fans would face the situation that connection fails when play games online. This is because that some games need IPX/SPX protocol when connect to network, in this way, to strengthen LAN compatibility.
All right, now allow me introducing the installation method for you guys:
Under the folder Windows\System32 in Windows XP or Win Server 2003 system, copy three files (wshisn.dll、rtipxmib.dll and nwprovau.dll) to the folder Windows\System32 in Vista. Then copy files nwlnkipx.sys and nwlnkspx.sys under the directory Windows\System32\drivers in Windows XP or Win Server 2003 to the folder Windows\System32\drivers in Vista. Finally then you can install the protocol.
Choose to check up the state of local connection: the project the connection uses has no IPX/SPX compatible protocol, then click “Install” to have a try: I remember the method to install NETBEUI protocol in Win 2003 I did before. Seems it could not apply here simply.
And I tried, copied the file netnwlnk.inf under the directory windows\inf in XP to the same path in Vista, and then copied the files nwlnkipx.sys and nwlnkspx.sys under the directory windows \system32\drivers in XP to the same path in Vista. Then this time I clicked “Install”, it worked. By analyzing the file netnwlnk.inf, I found that it still needs 3 files below to install the protocol:
rtipxmib.dll、wshisn.dll and nwprovau.dll
copy the three files above from system32 directory in XP to the same path in Vsita, then the IPX protocol could be installed.
