After Install Windows XP on Toshiba Satellite U300 laptop
Q: I intended to insist using VISTA originally, but I need to use a procedure, and this procedure only runs under XP system (I have tried many times, but it didn’t work under VISTA system). So I want to upgrade my system back to XP (yes, it is upgrading I think).
I do have an old Toshiba laptop with XP system, but I only have the DVD recovery disc. Is this useful to install XP system on my U300? I’ve already found the downloading webpage of the driver on Toshiba website. But I just want to make sure that before I act and probably cause damage to my laptop, there are already successful examples about converting to XP system on U300:

A:
1. your situation is almost the same as mine a few months ago. Converting to XP system, which needs lots of preparations to do for it…..there’s no driver….even till now, about 95% operation is finished under XP….the media card reader still couldn’t work, because I still haven’t found the driver for it yet.
2. I installed XP on my U305, and it works perfectly. Part of the drivers is from the webpage that you listed above. Rest is from Toshiba’s American website.
My key problem is to add SATA driver on the CD of XP system, but this is the only question that I’ve got.
So far as I know, you should not use the DVD recovery disc to install XP system that is for different model.
