How to install Windows XP on TOSHIBA X205-S7483 laptop?
How to install Windows XP on TOSHIBA X205-S7483 laptop----full manual (without floppy driver)
T: after few hours’ searching, I could combine a full manual about how to upgrade from Windows Vista to XP system on Toshiba Satellite X205-S7483. This is simpler than what you’ve imagined (at least it is the case when you get all necessary information at hand)
Necessary programs: please take a look: thank you!
And download all Toshiba X200 with system images as the driver for XP system. (X200’s drivers are same with X205 model’s), and then burn them to a single CD.
Now copy SATA driver to your XP system, and your XP system would recognize the hard drive then.
First, go to:
Extract the .exe file to a temporary file (I created a new folder on the desktop). Don’t feel bothered to click that .exe file, it just let you to point to that floppy drive, then to open WinImage (it takes some time for initialization), find that file f6flpy32.exe and open it. And then extract the file to anywhere you want (again I put them to the same folder with that .exe file)
All right, now extract everything on your Windows XP CD to your hard disk (of course the desktop is the handiest choice).
Notice: this is must be under Windows XP SP2 or SP3.As PCI.SYS couldn’t recognize new hard disk CD-ROM, SP1 wouldn’t work.
Now open nlite to browse the location where you extract the contents of XP CD to.
Click NEXT, then following frame window would appear, click NEXT again.
Select “Drive” and “Boot ISO” on the next following window
Click NEXT, on the next window we could insert our SATA drive.
Click “Insert” on the right bottom of the form, and then click “Single Drive” to navigate to the place where you saved the files extracted from f6flpy32.zip at the beginning of your manual
Click “iastor.inf” and then click open. Then another window will open. On this window select:
Intel(R) 82801HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller (Mobile ICH8M-E/M)
Click OK, and click NEXT again, you will enter the process interface. Just click Yes, it will begin to integrate the SATA driver to XP file.
Once this is finished, click NEXT, you will see the burning window. You can create an ISO file or burn onto a CD/DVD directly for this step. (I suggest you to burn directly for this would be a replacement of your XP CD.)
Burn your CD from here, and click F12 to enter the start-up option interface when restart the computer. Roll down to find CD/DVD and click Enter.
And then start the installation of Windows XP. Once this is finished, plug in the driver CD you made to the CD-ROM and load all drivers. The only thing you need to remove is the driver for graphic card. But that would be another manual. Probably I will post another article about how to manage that later.
This is a colligation from different manuals, I don’t develop any content on this base, just simply organize them and explain with the words that most people would understand.
This manual is developed from here:
Warnings: I won’t take any responsibilities and obligations for any lose or problem this manual may cause. Just do it according to your abilities within the risk range you could afford.
Besides, I suggest you to make a backup before your make any formatting. You can never foresee the problems that may happen
Modification: now it is about the installation of graphic card driver
It is hard to understand for me, so it took me really a long period of time to find an explanation which could make everybody understood.
All right, first let me say thanks to those guys on laptopvideo2go.com, they really make a good and hard job. Because of their hard working, like us who are not fond of Vista, we successfully installed XP system on the computer like this without knowing the known graphic card driver that provided by original device manufacturer.
It seems very complicated, but in fact, it’s quite simple.
First of all, go to this website:
And click most of the series which are released recently (the latest situation is 17x.xx, but obviously it will change as time passes).
And then it is still that part, select most part of the ones which are released recently (recently about 174 drivers were released).
Then you will see many different posts about drivers, select the recently ones, make sure what you check is for system, no matter for 32 bit or 64 bit. (This is very important) besides, make sure what type of graphic card does it have. (the model of X205-S7483 is nvidia)
For me, I found this here called “v174.74 XP 32bit | NVIDIA”:
The first thing to do is to read that post and find if there is your graphic card in the list of supportive graphic card processors (and this situation is 8700M GT)
Download that driver and the file “Modded INF”(they are two divided files)
Then execute the file .exe to extract the contents to a folder, and please make sure you know the place where you extract them to.
After that, find the modded inf file you downloaded and put it to the folder you extracted. (if there’s no prompting to ask you to replace the original inf file, then you are wrong).
Once you replace that inf file, then execute the file setup.exe. now you are able to install that graphic card driver.
